Job Title: Events Manager

The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) is the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and providing people with lymphoma and healthcare professionals with up-to-date information about this type of cancer. The Foundation’s mission is to eradicate lymphoma and serve those touched by this disease. LRF has funded more than $67 million in lymphoma-specific research.
LRF seeks a talented Events Manager to spearhead the planning and execution of fundraising and other special events across the country. The Manager will help to implement a diverse portfolio of fundraising events, including the annual gala, golf invitational, wine tastings, active lifestyle walks, and other select events. This position reports to the Associate Director of Distinguished Events.
Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LRF staff is working remotely. When the office re-opens it is expected that all staff in the New York City Metropolitan area will work in the office.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all fundraising event logistics, including, but not limited to, venue and contract negotiation, rentals, catering, lighting and A/V, entertainment, volunteers, and participant experience for the Annual Gala, golf and cocktail events, and active lifestyle walks
- Under the direction of the Associate Director of Distinguished Events, ensure LRF’s fundraising events are carried out in an effective, organized, and timely fashion, with attention to donor and participant experience, maximizing revenues, and adherence to approved expense budgets
- Assist in managing fundraising event budgets and keep projections up to date for proper financial forecasting and reconciliation
- Develop and coordinate event sponsorship and event collateral materials, solicitation letters, invitations, journals, and presentations
- Prepare all materials for events including name tags, printed materials, run of show binders, etc.
- Partner with Associate Director of Distinguished Events, Lymphoma Walk Manager, and Endurance Manager to steward individual event sponsors to ensure benefit delivery
- Coordinate raffles, auctions and other ancillary fundraising activities, including solicitation of in-kind goods and services
- Collaborate with other departments to provide relevant content for LRF event websites and ensure targeted event promotion
- Prepare event supplies and coordinate on-site setup and breakdown
- Participate in post-event analysis and donor acknowledgment activity
- Coordinate department stewardship activity, assist with post-event wrap-up including committee meetings, volunteer and participant evaluations, budget assessments, credit card payments, invoice preparations, and financial reconciliations.
- Maintain a working knowledge of LRF’s mission and programs to promote the Foundation’s fundraising, research and patient initiatives
- Other Distinguished Events and Peer-to-Peer program responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required and 4 – 5 years demonstrated experience in event management
- Excellent organizational, writing, and communications skills required
- Outstanding ability to work well under pressure, on a broad variety of projects in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment with shifting priorities to meet time-sensitive deadlines, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- A demonstrated ability to work well with others, as well as be self-directed
- Highly skilled with Microsoft Office products; Blackbaud Products and Adobe Suite is preferred, ability to learn new software programs
- Willingness to travel for LRF Events (domestic), and work nights and weekends when needed
- Traveling to/from events will be required – must possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift and move supply boxes of 25 lbs. during event preparation and execution
