Blood Cancer Awareness Month: Standing Together, Leading the Lymphoma Community

Every September, the lymphoma community comes together to celebrate Blood Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) and World Lymphoma Awareness Day (September 15)—a powerful time to honor the resilience of our community and shine a spotlight on lymphoma. Since 2010, the Lymphoma Research Foundation has proudly led this observance, championing awareness and action with a depth of expertise unmatched in the lymphoma landscape.

This year is particularly meaningful for the Foundation, as we celebrate our 30th Anniversary. As the nation’s largest and only nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to lymphoma, our mission is clear: to realize the promise of science to eradicate lymphoma and serve the community touched by this disease.

Our exclusive focus on lymphoma, deep clinical expertise, and decades-long track record make us not just a part of the lymphoma conversation—but the leader in it.

Why Lymphoma Needs Its Own Voice

Blood cancer impacts thousands of families each year, and lymphoma is the most common type of blood cancer—representing nearly half of all blood cancer diagnoses. And yet, lymphoma is not just one disease.

In fact, there are more than 100 different subtypes of lymphoma, with the list continuing to grow. Each type of lymphoma has a different biology, prognosis, clinical course, and therefore different treatment and monitoring strategies. What is true for one type of lymphoma may be completely different for another type, making it crucial for patients to fully understand their specific lymphoma diagnosis—that’s where we come in.

The Foundation is laser-focused on providing accurate information, advancing cutting-edge research, and trusted support tailored specifically for lymphoma. For patients and families navigating the complexities of this disease, that dedication matters. That is why we exist—and why our role is more critical than ever.

Boldly Moving Forward, Together

Since its founding, the Foundation has led the charge in funding groundbreaking scientific research, providing trusted education and support, and fostering a resilient, nationwide community of patients, care partners, healthcare professionals, and advocates:

  • We have invested over $82.7 million in lymphoma research, supporting the careers of hundreds of scientists and driving discoveries that have transformed treatment.
  • We have supported millions of patients and care partners with free education, services, and resources tailored to the unique needs of the lymphoma community.
  • And we have built a global community of advocates and experts committed to accelerating progress and improving the quality of life for every person affected by lymphoma.

As we look ahead, our mission is as urgent as ever: to continue fueling the research that will lead to cures, while empowering patients and families with the knowledge and support they deserve. Together, starting this September, we can continue to advance progress in lymphoma—because when we unite for lymphoma, we get closer to cures.
