Lymphoma Research Foundation Announces Partnership with Annals of Lymphoma

Nation’s Largest Lymphoma-Specific Organization Announces Partnership with Industry Leading Peer-Reviewed Publication During Blood Cancer Awareness Month

Annals of Lymphoma – A Rising High-Quality Journal Relating to Lymphoma Research

New York, NY (September 5, 2017) – The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – today announced a new partnership with the Annals of Lymphoma (AOL), an open-access, international peer reviewed electronic journal with worldwide distribution that publishes articles around key findings in basic and translational science, and clinical research relating to human lymphoma. This first-of-its-kind partnership will kick off during the month of September, Blood Cancer Awareness Month, in an effort to establish more direct lines of communication between the patient and research communities.

“For those who have dedicated their lives to the study of lymphoma or to advocating on behalf of patients, we understand that we must continually innovate to develop new therapies and treat patients – not just their disease,” said Bruce D. Cheson, MD, FACP, FAAS, FASCO, Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Lymphoma and past-Chair of LRF’s Scientific Advisory Board from 2010-2012.

“This commitment demands a collaborative approach to address the evolving needs of the lymphoma community, inspiring new partnerships such as this throughout our field.”

The Lymphoma Research Foundation will partner with both the Annals of Lymphoma and the Annals of Oncology throughout the month of September and beyond, in order to establish more direct lines of communication between lymphoma researchers and the patients they support. The partnership’s awareness efforts will culminate in Light it Red for Lymphoma on September 15th, World Lymphoma Awareness Day, an initiative spearheaded by LRF during which over 100 of the world’s most recognizable landmarks will “light red” in support of blood cancer research.

“Our patient-first focus is central to the Foundation’s mission to eradicate lymphoma and serve all those impacted by a lymphoma diagnosis,” said Meghan Gutierrez, LRF Chief Executive Officer.  “To date, LRF has awarded nearly $60 million in lymphoma-specific research and our unique focus on young investigators has enabled countless early-career scientists to maintain their interest in the study of hematological malignancies, many of whom will most certainly secure headlines in the Annals of Lymphoma in the years to come.”
