Job Title:        Marketing and Communications Intern

The Lymphoma Research Foundation seeks a highly motivated intern to support the Marketing and Communications department. Based in New York City, the intern will have the opportunity to learn about non-profit marketing and communications by assisting with a variety of marketing tasks and special projects.  This position is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in marketing data, writing campaigns, and who is eager to learn about how marketing and communications work in the non-profit space.  The intern will work closely with members of the Foundation’s Marketing and Communications team.  This position will report to the Senior Manager of Digital Communications.

This internship is a non-exempt, part-time, temporary position, for a minimum of 10 and up to 14 hours per week paid at $16.50 per hour.  The internship will take place between May 27th and August 21st.  This position is an in-person role, and the intern must attend work at the Foundation’s New York City headquarters.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assist with updating Foundation materials to align with brand guidelines
  • Assist with updating and maintaining Foundation webpages, such as the organization event calendar, reviewing formatting, and other content
  • Creating and executing content for Foundation social media platforms, including identifying strategic content areas, writing copy, and building graphics
  • Writing press releases
  • Working collaboratively across departments to promote the Foundation’s mission to its constituents and wider audiences  
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams) required; experience with WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Experience with Canva
  • Strong writing skills
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Ability to work in a team or independently as needed
  • Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues
  • Strong customer service skills preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds

Learning Objectives

  • Understanding and use of WordPress and other web/marketing systems
  • Understanding how to build and execute a strategic marketing plan
  • Understanding how to plan and execute marketing content for web and social media
