Lymphoma Research Foundation Statement on COVID-19 and LRF Programs and Events

The wellbeing of people with lymphoma and their caregivers is the top priority of the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF). People with cancer, who are in active cancer treatment or have been previously been treated for cancer, older patients, and people with other serious chronic medical conditions, may be at higher risk should they contract the coronavirus (also called COVID-19). With this information and the population at large in mind, we are writing to provide an update on the steps we are taking to serve our community during this challenging time.

The coronavirus continues to spread across the nation. Like you, the Foundation is focused on the health and safety of our employees, their families, Foundation volunteers, and the patients and survivors whom we exist to serve. We also are grateful to the dedicated physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals who care for people with lymphoma and those impacted by the coronavirus.

To help prevent the spread of coronavirus and protect the health of our community, we have postponed all in-person events. LRF instead will use digital platforms such as webinars and teleconferences to deliver live patient education programming. We worked with our Scientific Advisory Board and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to develop materials for lymphoma patients and survivors that will help them understand the appropriate personal protective measures they can take until the virus is under control. In addition, LRF developed a specialized fact sheet to address the most common questions that people with lymphoma may have regarding the coronavirus. The LRF website will be updated in the days and weeks ahead with information on these new programs.

The decision to postpone LRF programs includes our fundraising and community events. We are grateful for the support of our generous volunteers, donors and sponsors across the country and wish to protect their health.

Recognizing that members of our community may require additional education materials and services at this time, we want to encourage anyone in need of support to contact the LRF Helpline. The LRF Helpline is available to assist patients and their loved ones so that they can feel empowered to make the most informed decisions about their treatment and long-term care.  The Helpline team can also connect patients to financial assistance, legal, and insurance resources.
