LRF CEO Meghan Gutierrez Appointed to American Board of Internal Medicine Specialty Board

The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) has appointed LRF CEO Meghan Gutierrez to its Hematology Specialty Board.

The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) has ABIM has 12 Specialty Boards – one for all disciplines solely sponsored and administered by ABIM.  The Specialty Boards are where the frontline work at the discipline-specific level is done.

The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Specialty Boards have oversight of the ABIM Exam Committees (a set of 20 committees responsible for developing relevant, clinically valid examinations for Certifications and Maintenance of Certification in Internal Medicine) and are responsible for the broad definition of the discipline across Certification and Maintenance of Certification (MOC).  Members also consult with physicians and partner with medical societies to incorporate external feedback into Specialty Board deliberations.

“With the rapid changes in health care today, the work of the ABIM has a direct impact on patients, including those that the Lymphoma Research Foundation exists to serve,” said Gutierrez. “Patient-centeredness is a cornerstone of modern medical care and an area which I look forward to exploring and pursuing as a member of the ABIM Hematology Specialty Board.”
